Success Story:

Mügelner Maschinenfabrik – Germany

Glass machinery building in Saxony – A trade with tradition

In 1916 the Mügelner Maschinenfabrik was founded and since that time they are manufacturers of machinery for the glass industry. Since 1992 the company has traded under the name Mügelner Maschinenbau GmbH and looks back to more than 90 years deployment at the location in Mügeln/ Saxony.

The focus of production is the fabrication of conveyors for bulk goods as well as special purpose machinery manufacture.

Since many decades they used PRECISMECA rollers from RULMECA GERMANY GmbH. “A long lifetime and a high quality is the deciding factor for us. We are very satisfied with the rollers from RULMECA GERMANY. These rollers have a lifetime of over 15 years.” said Rolf Peege, General Manager of Mügelner Maschinenbau GmbH.

The company is not only a producer, they also provide a complete solution for their customers. The staff of the Mügelner Maschinenbau GmbH provide not only the assembly, but also the maintenance and the ongoing servicing of the equipment.

We can have a look of the work of the Mügelner mechanical engineers at a visitation of a current project – a float glass factory in Central Germany.

In this connection Holger Kloy the supervisor of this project explains; “We use about 500 – 600 meters of conveyors. The longest conveyor is re-feeding broken fragments and is 240 meters long.” RULMECA GERMANY GmbH delivered the troughing rollers with a diameter of 89 mm as well as rubber disc return rollers with a diameter of 108/63 mm. Partly in heat-resisting design up to 100 °C and with special grease and heat-resisting labyrinths. Also in our production range are oil and grease-resistant rollers. The Mügelner Maschinenbau GmbH uses them for the machinery within container glass plants.

One case of particular hardship is the glass dust from the transport of the broken fragments, tells Holger Kloy. Rulmeca solve this problem with our multi sealing system with pre-sealing, labyrinth sealing and a double-sided bearing seal.

The plant has been running non-stop for 16 years since the furnaces were first fired up to start producing glass. Mr. Kloy added: “An interruption in the process of glass fabrication is nearly impossible. Absolute dependence and stability of all components is essential.”

Worldwide work companies of the glass and siliceons industry as well as environment engineering with solutions from Mügeln. The Mügelner Maschinenbau GmbH has provided more than 2.000 conveyors in 40 countries and trust therefore PRECISMECA rollers from RULMECA GERMANY GmbH.
