Indonesian Semen Gresik Group awards large order

At an official ceremony in Jakarta in the middle of 2009, the Business Unit Processing of ThyssenKrupp Foerdertechnik, located in Ennigerloh, Germany, signed a contract for supplying the Indonesian Semen Gresik Group with raw material processing technology. The extensive order package includes the entire crushing technology, storage area equipment and belt conveyor systems for the customer’s new production lines at Tonasa and Tuban works.

According to Semen Gresik Group’s own statements, expertise, state-of-the-art machines and maximum availability have been the main criteria at supplier selection.

Currently, the purchaser is covering about 46 percent of home demands with the two subsidiaries PT Semen Gresik and PT Semen Tonasa, providing a total output of 16.9 million tons of cement per year, which makes him the leading manufacturer in Indonesia.

Established in 1957, the company increased the production from 250,000 tons at founding by more than 67 times until today – with success appearing to be a never ending story.

At the moment, the government of Indonesia is investing a total of $ 22 billion in expanding the country’s infrastructure. The main part of these projects will definitely boost the demand for cement. Therefore, without capacity improvements, a cement shortage is expected within the next 3 - 4 years.

PT Semen Tonasa on South Sulawesi is now building the fifth production line with an annual production of 2.5 million tons, to be commissioned as scheduled in 2012. The total output of the currently running production lines is at 3.5 million tons per year.

PT Semen Gresik is installing the fourth line at Tuban works on East Java to be commissioned simultaneously in 2012, which will also be processing an annual production of 2.5 million tons, while the currently running production lines are performing at 7.5 million tons per year.

At Tonasa works, as well as at the sister plant Tuban, they decided to assemble a state-of-the-art TITAN double-shaft hammer crusher with a throughput rate of 1,600 t/h, along with a double roll crusher for up to 350 t/h and a RollSizer, designed for processing up to 150 t/h.

Moreover, the delivery for PT Semen Tonasa will include equipment for a longitudinal limestone mixing bed with a mobile, reversible loading conveyor and a bridge scraper with capacities of 2 x 50,000 tons, as well as for a clay sag storage with capacities of 2 x 7,500 tons, including a mobile loading conveyor and a bucket excavator for clay extraction. There is also a correctives and an additives storage for sand/iron ore being equipped with one stacker truck and one side scraper each, offering storage capacities of 3 x 5,000 tons in the near future.

The shipment to Semen Gresik’s Tuban works contains a 2 x 50,000 tons longitude storage for limestone-clay mixture, equipped with loading conveyor and bridge scraper. In addition, a portal scraper with main and secondary boom will be installed to the 2 x 19,000 tons correction limestone storage, which is connecting directly to the mixing bed.

ThyssenKrupp Foerdertechnik also supplies the complete engineering and all the drives for the belt conveyor systems, meant to connect the crushing plants with the storage areas, as well as storage areas with pre-mill bunkers.

This contract, including all the raw material processing machines and required services, gives proof once more of the competences of ThyssenKrupp Foerdertechnik, strengthening the German company’s international role as a manufacturer of system solutions from one hand.
