Rapid International host International Event to Celebrate 40 Years of Success
Established in 1969, Rapid International Ltd is a dynamic and innovative company specialising in the manufacture of equipment for the concrete, construction and environmental industries.
In order to mark the special occasion of celebrating 40 years in business, Rapid decided to host an Open Day at the factory in Tandragee, Northern Ireland. This was followed by presentations, an evening meal and entertainment at the Hilton Hotel, Templepatrick. The Open Day proved to be a great success and customers and dealers from all parts of the world participated in the event. There were visitors from Australia, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Germany, USA and representatives from the UK included large companies such as Lafarge, Cemex, Acheson & Glover, Marshalls and Aggregate Industries.
Rapid’s product portfolio has grown significantly over the years due to continued Research and Development and market intelligence and they are now recognised as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of concrete Pan and Planetary mixers, bespoke batching plants, mobile plants and mixer washout systems.
There was a wide range of equipment and machines on display at the Open Day. The mixer range on show included a combination of both Pan and Planetary mixers in various sizes; an R1000, R2000, RP375, and RP2000.
Without doubt, the mixer that attracted the most interest was the brand new RT3000 twin shaft mixer. With its compact design and high output due to the reduced mixing time it is sure to be extremely popular within the readymix industry. A full range of sizes in the twin shaft family will be available shortly.
Traditionally, Rapid’s focus was on supplying static Bespoke Batching Plants. A family of modular plants is available with a range of achievable outputs from 60 – 120 m per hour. Recent contracts include plants for Lafarge and Bardon Concrete. However, more recently, the company has shifted its focus to providing customers with the extremely sought after mobile options, namely, the Rapidmix 400 C, and the Rapid Batch 120.
Rapid used the Open Day to launch the newest addition to the mobile range, the Rapid Batch 120, which has been made possible through an association with SBM Mineral Processing GmbH. The Rapid Batch 120 is a fully mobile batching plant which batches 120 m of homogeneous concrete per hour, which is one batch every 90 seconds. This plant is perfect for many projects as only a mere 8 hours is required for set-up and no foundations are required. The Rapid Batch 120 allows maximum access with drive through and reverse loading options depending on the site configuration. Lafarge have agreed to a long term hire of this mobile plant.
The second mobile plant on show during the Open Day was the Rapidmix 400 C and Rapid demonstrated the quick set-up of this plant. The Rapidmix 400 C is a continuous mixing plant which is fully mobile and self-erecting. This plant has an onboard generator and is ready to begin mixing 4-6 hours after arriving on site. The Rapidmix 400 C and Rapidmix 600 C are capable of mixing up to 400 and 600 tonnes per hour respectively. These plants are operating worldwide in USA, Mexico, Russia, Poland and Australia with the most recent one sold to Holcim. The Rapidmix is suitable for many applications including Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) for road sub base, dam construction, cement treated base, soil stabilisation and soil bentonite.
Overall, the Open Day was a great success for Rapid who aim to design and manufacture new products and increase their global market share through a dealer network. Managing Director Mark Lappin recognises the success of the past 40 years and has great hopes for the future:
