While unloading Coal Rake one Rail Wagon has got struck at the top damaging some of the structures of the Wagon Tipler (MAMC,Dugapur make) . Now the Rail wagon has to be brought down & afterwards repair of the Wagon Tipler is to be taken up. If any one has such experience of the Rail Wagon getting struck at the top &afterwards how they rectified the problem may kindly be shared . Also if any agency/Contractor is capable of doing such a restoration job their contact address may please be informed.

Was the overhead clamp that holds the car in place during the rotation phase fully retracted to hold the car in place on the tippler floor?, it sounds as if it was not fully extended and locked to hold the car in place while under rotation. If the railcar clamp is damaged it will not hold the car in place on the rails.

With all the unknowns the item that comes to mind is metal fatigue on the railcar clamps and distortion of the clamp arms.

You are right lzaris . Yes the Locking arrangement is having a defect. By carefully checking the Locking arrangement we have been able to unload the Rail Wagon & now we need to repair this locking arrangement so that the same problem does not repeat

I am very happy that you were able to find the problem quickly,

I would check to see if there are any bronze wear parts and determine

if they are still available.

One question-when the clamp drops prior to locking the car in place-does it bind prior to dropping the rest of the way?

I have not been near a tippler in 23 years but remember that occuring every time.

I believe the lock clamp was chain driven and the shaft that powered the chains was as long as the tippler floor.

You may need new chain and sprokets by now but that is an easy fix.

do you have a roller chain pitch guage? if the rollers are really sloppy they will move easily and as a result the chain guage and chain tension is poor
