Hello
The "new" code EN 1991-4 better reflects the current knowledge on silo loads as the old DIN 1055-6.
However it is impossible to directly compare the loads with the old DIN. Much depends on the product characteristics, the size of the silo, the way of filling and emptying etc.
It is however very important that when designing the silos according the new code, the stability is checked with EN 1993-4-1.
It is not recommended to design a silo according other codes when the loads are calculated according EN 1991-4, as this may lead to an underestimation of the required strength.
Both codes are closely related and are written in function of each other.
Kind regards
