AUMUND further extends

its market position with LOUISE products

The handling of coal, FGD gypsum and ash in power stations calls for transport solutions which are technically demanding as well as reliable. With its proven LOUISE products, AUMUND Fördertechnik possesses a multitude of excellent references in this domain.

The main applications of LOUISE products in the power industry are the discharge and transport of FGD gypsum and the coal handling for boiler and filter systems. These vary from sophisticated transport and processing systems to the intermediate storage in silos and the loading onto silo vehicles or into containers. Apart from the different models of the LOUISE rotary discharge machine, a variety of totally different machines such as the troughed chain conveyor, the Centrex™ silo discharge machine or AUMUND bucket elevators are used in the power station sector when coal, fly-ash or FGD gypsum are to be discharged, transported or handled.

Thanks to its solutions for the FGD gypsum segment, the German AUMUND group of companies proved to be successful at two power stations in China.

Shaanxi Weihe (China) in Xi'an City has ordered just recently two rotary discharge machines in rotating design (BEW-K) via China Power Investment Corporation Yuan. The two machines with a conveying capacity of 100 t/h are destined for the discharge of FGD gypsum. Another two machines of this type were sold to Hebei Guahua in the P.R. China. The final customer received two rotary discharge machines in rotating design with a conveying capacity of 130 t/h for the discharge of FGD gypsum.

FGD gypsum is produced in power stations during the flue gas desulphurization and represents a heavy, adhesive material with very poor flow properties which is due to its average moisture content of 8-10 percent (in extreme cases up to 15 percent).

Especially for this kind of material, the rotary discharge machine in rotating design ensures a good material flow in the silo and a trouble-free discharge. It had been developed specifically for large silos and discharge openings with a diameter of 6-14m. The discharge wheel undercuts the bulk material column in the silo, reclaims the material and moves it into a central outlet chute. The system operates according to the "First In / First out" principle with simultaneous feeding and reclaim of the material. Further benefits of the rotary discharge machine in rotating design are a metered discharge and easy access.
