Gentleman, There are so many referances. Please note that if you are directly loading clinker from ship in to trucks in that case the unloading rate from ship should match the loading rate .Please provide unloading rate of the vessel enabling us to provide the referances.

Thank you very much for the reponse. To clarify further, we are seeking references to users who have successfully used portable hoppers as a medium through which clinker cargo has been discharged onto trucks, thereby effectively containing spillage & dust related health & environment issues.

Hence query is related more to the HSSE improvement aspect rather than operational productivity, especially since cargo will continue to be discharged using grabs attached to vessel gear. Moot question therefore is..Will portable hoppers make the difference & if so which port is it being used.

Kind Regards

..Moneycoat

You will have to troll through the eLibray to find an article describing a tyre mounted hopper, with dust extraction equipment, built by a remnant of GEC Leicester, UK.

I presume you also need the hopper to smooth out the fluctuations in throughput.

Regardless of any port feedback that you might obtain, remember that your hopper will introduce an additional material transfer point. This will generate more dust than previous, overall. However the extra dust generated can be collected more easily than before and the truck loading can be cleaner using the same dust control equipment working both ends of the hopper. So regardless of any port feedback the answer must be definitely yes; if you do it thoroughly.

Sorry for the belated response. Guidance is appreciated. Also found a portable hopper being successfully used at the Port of Immingham, which reinforces our case for one.

Thanks to all !

Dear Moneycoat,

I've just seen your query regarding unloading clinker into mobile hoppers, so sorry if I'm a bit late.

We have supplied a total of 17 Mobile Hoppers with de-dusting filters to customers around the world. Of these, the majority are handling clinker.

The discharge options can include, truck loading or conveyor loading.

The travel options include rubber tyre mounted, steel bogies or fixed.
