I need to design a crusher for calcite (3 mohs) from 6in (150mm) to 6mm, and also use it for coal(2-2.5 mohs) from 4in (100mm) to 6mm; the calcite CaCO3 aint mixed with coal. First I crush calcite and when I need coal I stop crushing calcite and start to crush coal. I know that the equip most be design for calcite, beacuse the calcite has a higher hardness than coal. So I need to design a crusher for calcite and then test if I can use it for the coal.

Thanks

Martin.

Greetings Martin,

Are you looking for real world example or is this for a research paper?

This sounds like a research problem as typically ores are sent to crusher builders for testing and sizing.

The internet and advertizing links for crushers will offer much to you for your searching

If not:

Are you crushing and screening to fill a stockyard prior to end use?

What are you using to break and classify your coal and calcite now? It does not sound like you have an existing plant of some type, be it jaw, vertical impactor, a roll crusher with single or dual rolls fixed or variable, or cone crusher or hammermill.

It is fine to tell us your pre-screened ores are 4 inch minus and six inch minus sizing but that still does not tell us anything.

What are you using to break run of mine ores now or are they delivered to you in the above sizes via train, truck or conveyor?

Are you breaking, crushing and grinding for a fluidised bed boiler, pulverised coal plant or stoker?

What type of coal, sub bituminous, bituminous, metallurgical grade bituminous, sub anthracite, anthracite?

Do you desire stone on stone crushing or stone on steel crushing? Do you recirculate oversize for recrushing with a conveyor fed off the top screen deck of a four or five deck screener? Or do you stock pile and recrush the oversize at a later date?

What tonnages per hour are you dealing with? What are your available utilities? Do you have water for dust control? Do you have 4160 volt AC three phase power avaliable? Do you have an existing crushing, screening and classifying plant in moth balls?

To be candid there is no point in reinventing the wheel as there are plenty of crushers and crusher builders out there for your application.

In one instance The Pennsylvania Crusher Company (www.Penncrusher.com)

manufactures a broad line of crushing and breaking equipment and they invite potential customers to send samples of thier ore to be crushed, sized, and classified etc. And they are world wide in representation

(Spokane crusher.com) is another worldwide presence as well and they manufacture vertical impact stone on steel centrfugal crushers.

Its fine to ask for information but you have not told us much at all.

Dear sir,

It is not a good idea my sincere advice never try to reverse Engineering a crusher or a screen. It will neither be a horse nor a ass it is bound to be a mule.

Better talk to the giants like Metso ,L&T, Krupp who can only guide you.

Kind regards,

A N Mukherjee
