FLSmidth sells complete system to copper mine in Chile

FLSmidth Minerals has sold a complete dry area system to Centenario Copper for their Franke copper project in the Altamira district in the region of Antofagasta, some 70 kilometres south east of Taltal City in Chile. The contract is worth just over USD 37m (DKK 186m).

The dry area system includes a primary jaw crusher, a secondary and two tertiary cone crushers, screening equipment, feeders, a stockpile, an agglomerator and a complete stacking system. Plant design, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering as well as erection of the plant are also included.

The entire Franke project is designed to produce 30,000 tonnes of cathode copper per year with the equipment from FLSmidth Minerals being able to process in excess of 11,000 tonnes of copper ore per day.

"FLSmidth has a very strong position in the copper industry in Chile. However, this is the first time FLSmidth Minerals sells a complete dry area system in this part of the world. We largely attribute this to our ability to provide complete solutions from one partner - an ability we have obtained via our acquisitions over the last few years," CEO of FLSmidth Minerals, Christian Jepsen comments.
