This is the description of the processes:

1.Washing.

In this process, the potato is washed in order to remove roots , leaves , stones, etc .

2. Peeling.

The potato is pushed up to a conveyer to the automatic peeling machine. After they have been peeled, the potatoes are washed again.

3.Slicing.

The potatoes pass through a revolving impaler/presser that cuts them into paper-thin slices.

The slices fall into a second cold-water wash that removes the starch released when the potatoes are cut.

This starch may be not removed.

4.Frying.

The slices pass under air jets that remove excess water as they flow into troughs filled with oil.

5.Salting and Flavoring.

Salt is sprinkled from receptacles positioned above the trough.

Potato chips that are to be flavored pass through a drum filled with the desired powdered seasonings.

6.Packaging.

After cooling, The chips are conveyed to a packaging machine with a scale. As the pre-set weight of chips is measured.

In our project we will design and manufacture an automatic peeling machine to perform the peeling task .

7.Conveying system.

This system is designed to wired every process together and to transfer the product in the place what ever it to need to process the product.

I take The conveying system part

in fact i want to design the suitable conveyer for this projects and i coud not want to use ( belt conveyer or roller conveyer or ... etc

so what is your opinion what the type of conveyer i can use

thanks alot for every body

. PROBLEM STATEMENT

In The Past the use of manual is prevailing in the industry, but at the present time is the use of automatic machines is prevailing.

in this project will be used mechanical machine is (conveying system) .

One of various devices that provide mechanized movement of material, as in factory. Conveyors are used in industrial applications and also on large farms, in warehousing and freight-handling, and in movement of raw materials. conveyors of fabric, rubber, plastic, leather, or metal are driven by a power-operated roll mounted underneath or at one end of the conveyor. The forms a continuous loop and is supported either on rollers (for heavy loads) or on a metal slider pan (if loads are light enough to prevent frictional drag on the belt). Motors operating through constant- or variable-speed reduction gears usually provide the power.

i want o know the ??

Solution methods for Conveying System :

There are several methods to build an automated potato conveying system, after reviewing these methods we will evaluate all of these and then we will make a decision to choose an efficient method. ?????????

and finaly make an Evaluating of the methods for conveying and take the best conveyer for that system:

Potatos On The Fry

Peeling the spuds:

Regarding the peeling of the spuds we have had commercial potato peelers for many years- so its up to you how you wish to proceed- perhaps improving an existing design would be a better way as these items(peelers) have been used for years

Frying the spud chips:

From what I remember potato chip firms here use a solid chain food grade conveying system that allows a solid continous floor to lift the cooked chips out and away from the frying vats and it also allows the oil to drain away from the chips and back into the fryer- we have had them here for a long time.

I believe it is the same type of stainless solid chain system used to move dipped candy bars out of chocolate vats after dipping.

If you look up the how things work web site I would guess they would have information on it.

In some of the latest lines installed at the big boys in Leicester (Walkers Snack Foods) the chip blanks are pneumatically conveyed through a flavour vapour mist and then through a 70kW microwave oven.

The used to be a "The Man from Walkers... He Say Yesss!" type of guy who checked on the spuds in the field. When they reached the pre-ordained size for the slicers he instructed the farmers to spray suphuric acid over the crop to immediately prevent further growth. I suppose it also saved on the Salt and Vinegar flavouring. The process was one of the largest consumers of H2SO4 in/on the land.
