Dense phase and lean phase pneumatic conveying system sizing software from Pneu Solutions

Pneu Solutions has been offering software to end users, equipment suppliers, and engineering companies around the world with 100 percent satisfied customers since 2000. The software will assist users to properly design dense phase and lean phase pneumatic conveying systems. They are designed for fast, accurate results of line size, pressure drop, gas flow, and power requirements. The software programs are much more than a pressure drop calculation in a section of pipe. The Pneu Solutions programs are a single source solution to design a pneumatic conveying system by an experienced system designer. The dense phase program helps the user design a dense phase system applying either a high-pressure airlock or a pressure vessel. The dilute phase programs will provide inputs for all system components, including closed-loop systems. With all the programs, the user can utilize stepped piping sizes for longer runs when practical to conserve air flow consumption or minimize pressure drop. It only takes a few minutes to properly design an efficient pneumatic conveying system. These programs are also excellent tools to troubleshoot and debottle existing systems. A dense phase vacuum program is also under development. This type of conveying solution is best when minimizing material breakage or eliminating particle segregation are the key factors.

We value user’s contribution and aspire to enhance each program release for the beginners as well as the experienced designers. The following statement is an example of the detail that is included in each program. This is a note from the tutorial within the Pneu Dense Pressure program: “The friction coefficient value can be slightly different for the same material. One noted observation is that when the horizontal line length is very short (<50 feet) or the vertical distance is more than the horizontal distance. In these cases the value of the friction coefficient will often be somewhat higher and is at the upper end of the range specified for a particular material. This phenomenon can be explained by the sensitivity of the energy balance equation with these parameters. It typically is not a problem because the system is normally designed for some longer pipe run. The pressure drop associated with a short pipe run (for example, a blending operation) is normally not critical to the entire system design.”

Below is one of the calculation pages from our Pneu Dense Pressure program. This page is used to properly size a pressure dense system using a pressure pot or pressure vessel. Additionally, many existing dense phase systems are limited by the size of the pressure vessel. This program will also help you determine maximum convey rate from an existing vessel. Useful information and instructions are provided in the Tutorial section of the program.

Special features of the programs include the following items:

•Comprehensive tutorials to help the user design systems properly.

•Easily convert between English and metric units.

•Quickly troubleshoot existing systems for undersized or oversized conditions.

•Up to three stepped convey line sizes for both dense and lean phase systems.

•Design closed loop and open loop systems with the pressure dilute program.

•Gas leakage and speed calculations for high pressure and low pressure airlocks.

•Pressure pot sizing calculation included with dense phase program.

•Dense phase system design using either high-pressure airlock or a pressure pot.

•All programs operate on any Microsoft Office© platform.

•Free technical support for all programs.

In my previous company in India, we brought the pneu solutions software for pneumatic conveying calculations for power station fly ash conveying, both the pneu vacuum and pneu dense programs were giving grossly erroneous results, I think the software needs to be upgraded if it is to be used for power station fly ash conveying
