Stewardson Process Design are consultants for the design of lean phase pneumatic conveying systems of positive pressure blowing or negative pressure vacuum.

We provide working documentation to enable your company or your contracted engineers to build and install the working plant and equipment. We provide printed data books that will include all the functional design criteria and calculations for the transfer system(s). Individual specifications are incorporated for all components integral to the system design from the raw material delivery to the process point of use, which will be sufficiently detailed to enable the equipment to be passed for purchasing. The supervision of the equipment installation and system commissioning can also be offered if required, along with operator and engineer training. Our experience is based on a total understanding of all aspects of lean phase pneumatic conveying systems, gained through many years of practical application and design.

If increased performance of your existing conveying system(s) is required, we will perform a site inspection and check the existing system to establish if it is operating as it was initially designed and compliant with current legislations. A walk through of the existing equipment in operation is often sufficient to determine faults and diagnose any problems or enhancements that can be acted upon immediately. A printed survey report of the existing system/equipment will be provided along with data books that will provide all the necessary information to carry out the system modifications. Again, the supervision of the equipment installation, commissioning and training can be provided if required.

We also trouble-shoot existing systems that have become unreliable and perform poorly. As previously mentioned a walk through of the existing equipment in operation is often sufficient to determine faults and diagnose any problems or enhancements but, we will also check the existing system to establish if it is operating as it was initially designed and operating to current legislations. We will carry out an inspection of the system's maintenance schedules and reported breakdown records to establish the basis of the breakdown and propose corrective measures. A comprehensive survey and report of the existing system will be provided with calculations, charts and diagrams to explain the faults, along with recommendations for the corrective measures. Process and instrumentation diagrams can be drawn up of the existing systems for your future benefit if required complete with a Functional Design Specification and Motor and Instrument Schedules. Samples of previous system surveys can be provided for your further information, if required.

Many existing system installations will become non-efficient due to lack of maintenance or knowledge about the specific requirements of a pneumatic conveying system. In some instances there is no longer any information available on the system previously supplied or it has been misplaced or lost. We offer to come to site, survey the existing equipment/system and provide you with a detailed document that will advise you on the following:

•Original system design duty

•Potential increase in design duty

•Current legislation and upgrades required to meet ATEX, Health & Safety, COSHH

•Maintenance plans and spares requirement

•Improvements to enhance the system performance

•Plant drawings and parts schedules (if required)
