Dear Mr. Baker,
Thank you for the sample circuit.
But I'm wondering why a trommel wouldn't be recommended for the case which it's more simple, no moving/rotating parts, less maintenance, etc.?

Trommel
Trommel vs vib screen:
We utilize trommels when we are attempting to screen out DIFFICULT NON FREE FLOWING MATERIALS.......in our area. Trommels actually have more moving parts then a vibrating screen, chains, drives, manually turning drum mechanically. We consider then much more maintenance intensive than a vibrating screen by far.
WE quite often have people having to go inside trommels.....6,7,8 foot diameter......to manually unplug, or clean the apertures which we consider undesirable and dangerous.
We would only recommend, generally a trommel where a vibrating screen can NOT be used due to a material's UNSCREENABILITY to due it being hard to screen, non free flowing. ■

Vibrating Screen vs Trommel?
Dear Bulkoholics,
May somebody kindly advise me which one of vibrating/trommel screen is recommended in the outlet of a SAG mill (SBC circuit) with a new feed capacity around 900 mt/h copper ore with about 20% circulating load.
If a trommel is considered for the case what is the dimension of such trommel?
The circuit characteristics are as following:
SAG Mill dimension: diam. 9.8 m x length 5 m
Ore density: 2.81 t/m3
Slurry Density: 1.52 t/m3
Screen Cut Size: -5 mm
Solids wt% 53 %
Slurry t/h 2356
Water m3/h 1114
Ball Load ~6 %
Critical Speed 77 %
Kind Regards,
