Reclosing Explosion Vent

Fike Europe Bvba, European pacesetter in pressure relief and explosion protection, developed the FLEX-VTM, the Fire Limiting EXplosion Vent, an explosion vent that will reclose after explosion venting, allowing a more effective post-explosion fire fighting.

Conventional explosion vents open entirely at a predetermined pressure which guarantees that the overpressure accumulated during an explosion can be vented safely and the process equipment remains unharmed.

The FLEX-VTM lifts conventional explosion venting to a higher level. After venting the explosion pressure, the vent panel will close again for 90%. This reduces the venting process dramatically and eliminates the risk for secundary explosions.

The reclosing capabilities of the FLEX-VTM allow effective fire fighting in the equipment since an extinguishing agent, watermist or steam can be injected in a confined space and the ingress of oxygen is limited.

The highly flexible explosion vent FLEX-VTM will open to the inside when a vacuum occurs upon fire extinguishing.

This explosion vent is the link between passive explosion protection and effective fire fighting. It is the long awaited answer to questions the industry had to deal with for a long time.

100 % Reclosing After Pressure Relief

Posted on 25. May. 2009 - 02:55

The HOERBIGER explosion relief valve is the only one on the market that features 3 advantages in one compact unit:

1. Flameless pressure relief into confined compartments

2. 100% reclosing after activation prevents entrance of oxygen and thus avoids subsequent explosions and fire

3. Suitable to cope with several explosions without exchange of any part

HOERBIGER relief valves are perfect for the use at any bulk processing equipment and provide virtually maintenance free explosion venting over years.

Additional these ATEX certified valves are vacuum resistant and thus perfect for the use on vaccum cleaners, filters, cyclones.

Explovent explosion relief panels are extremely well-known for being resettable and panels do not need to be replaced after usage, unlike blowout siding. Can also be tested at any time, unlike other fastener-dependent panels or siding! Meets OSHA, NFPA and ATEX requirements and FM approved.
