Dear Sanjay, Mr.teus rightly said about using conveyor for handling of coal.First of all -50 mm size never conveyed pnuematically.Yoy can think of crushed coal but power requirement for the same is nery high and also maintenance cost.

i agree with regards to -50 mm coal.
but problem with conveying -3mm crushed coal is that after crushing due to our process requirement we need to add moisture .due to this maintenance of these belts has become a headache as lot of material gets stuck to return belt causing problems such as roller jamming ,belt sway etc.we presently use hotch make scrapers but still problem is not solved. ■

If you can't clean the belt with a Hosch; but are seriously asking about blowing the stuff 500m, then you really do have a problem.
Regulate the sprays better!
If that doesn't work: bin it or live with it. ■

i will like to know if it makes economic sense to go in for pneumatic conveying over trough belt conveying in these two scenarios
1.1000 tph coal over a distance of about 2 kms. (from barge unloader to coal storage shed).50mm average size, moisture varies (upto 10 percent).presently trucks are used at 600 tph.
2.120 tph crushed coal - 3mm (90 percent) ,10 percent moisture about .5 kms.
