Do you make them by the standard forging method? How much residual strain to you maintain in the ball after compression?
The key is to control the temperature before and at compression so that upon cooling the parting line, between dies, does not contain excessive residual strain that leads to premature breakage along the seam.
Some mfgrs are better at understanding and controlling this ackward fabricating process than others.
How much residual strain is too much?
Also some mfgrs have a little higher HRC which leads to longer life if they don't burst. ■

The balls won¡¯t be out of circularity because of this advanced formation technique. Our 80mm balls could be used as 60mm and 40mm balls after several months¡¯ grinding.
