Pneumatic Conveying Principles

Makarand,

I suggest you go to the Library of Mahindra Engineering & Chemical Products Limited (MECP) and get a basic knowledge about this technology and its principles.

I am sure you will find books and technical journals which will offer much information.

You will also find valuable information in our Pneumatic Conveying Forum. It contains over 400 threads and thousands of posts.

If you then have specific questions, I am sure our Forum experts will try to answer them.

Since you are working in a company specialising in materials handling, can you not ask your collegues for this information?

Pneumatic Conveying Principles

Dear Sachin,

Basic principles of pneumatic conveying are given in several text books. But if your objective is running calculations, a good resource are my articles "Theory and Design of Dilute Phase Pneumatic Conveying Systems" and "Debottlececking Pneumatic Conveying Systems".

Calculations For Pneumatic Conveying

Posted on 13. Jul. 2007 - 04:43

I had requested Mr. A.T. Agarwal to forward the article on "Theory and design of dilute phase pneumatic conveying systems" which I have received few days ago. The complex theory of pneumatic conveying has been explained in an extremely simplified way and the guideline for developing an excel program is exhaustive.

However at the end of the article it has been mentioned that formulae for calculation of conveying velocity have been covered in previous articles. A brief guideline for deciding the same shall be extremely helpful. Moreover it is difficult to decide whether the dilute phase or dense phase shall be used for conveying a particular material, e.g. calcined lime - is there any simple guideline for the same? Is there any similar article for the dense phase calculation? Please share these information, if possible so that the aspects of dilute phase w.r.t. the dense phase can be compared.

I shall take this oportunity to thank Mr. A.T. Agarwal for forwarding the excellent article to me.
