Augmented feed onto belt conveyors

Posted in: , on 21. Mar. 2007 - 00:58

Hello,

I am looking for input on feeding material onto a belt conveyor through more than one hopper along the conveyors length. Can anyone suggest reference works, or tell their experience, and what pitfalls to avoid?

Specifically interested in variable feed, and its effect on belt lift-off.

What special design does the downstream hopper need, since it has to allow material to pass into it on the belt?

Material is primary crushed overburden, -350mm, feeding onto an 1800mm belt, 35 degree troughed conveyor. Total is 8000 tonnes/hour, through two hoppers, each receiving 4000 tph. 4000 tph flow through any hopper may randomly stop for brief periods, on the order of 30 seconds or a minute.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dear Ted,

we have got a solution & we can either consult or produce the extra entrance to the conveyor.

for a quotation, kindly forward the GAD ( general arrangement drawing of the system ).

kind regards,

Dear Mr. Ted Wagner,

More number of feed points on one conveyor is common arrangement. I presume that at each of the feed point you have the feeder, which would put specific quantity of material on to the belt. When the material is lumpy it requires certain fine tuning of skirt board arrangement and also the speed being selected so that the scope for interference of material with the subsequent skirt board is minimum. Also, the feed points which are ahead will have flared inlet of the skirt board. You have mentioned 350 mm size lump. So, please make the skirt board arrangement somewhat more carefully. Comparatively deeper troughing will be beneficial in this type of arrangement. You can take the advise of the available technical experts.
