PROPOSAL FOR A SCRAP YARD FOR 440,000 MTPA BILLET MANUFACTURING PLANT THROUGH INDUCTION FURNACE ROUTE

One of our clients in Middle East produces about 400,000 MTPA of Medium Sections such as beams, channels, angles rounds, squares and flats. At present they are procuring billets of 130 mm2, 150mm2 and 200 mm2 from various sources. The steel grades generally are ASTM A 36 and ASTM A572 Gr. 50 & Gr. 60. We are now considering setting up our own steel melting and casting unit at our existing premises to produce approximately 440,000 MTPA billets of Grade 50 & 60 in 130 mm2, 150 mm2 & 200 mm2 (12 M length) for our rolling mill complex.

They are planning to install 4 nos. Induction Furnaces combined with Ladle Furnace and billet caster to meet our requirement. You are requested to develop a complete Techno-commercial proposal for supply and installation of the Scrap Yard including auxiliaries on a turnkey basis, excluding civil. However, civil construction drawings are in your scope of work. Please give your best proposal for the Scrap Yard of suitable capacity with suitably sized equipment including all auxiliaries as required.

A System to be develops the Scrap Yard suitable to store approximately 80,000 MT of scrap, which will be sufficient for about 2 months of consumption. Approximately 1500 MT of scrap will need to be handled daily and prepared for feeding to the Induction Furnaces. You should consider storage area for HBI also, as we may feed scrap and HBI in 70:30 ratio.

The Scope of work for the Scrap Yard starts with receiving scrap/ HBI at plant site, proper handling and storage of scrap/HBI, preparation of scrap for feeding to the Induction Furnace and transporting the scrap/ HBI to the adjacent Induction Furnace Bay for further handling and charging.

Best Regards
