Hoppity Hoppity Hopper Help
Mr. Morrish,
I will assume you are loading bulk rather than unloading via vacuum.
Why not purchase a telescoping loading tube/chute (Donkey Dick) to cut down the dust discharge? ■
Blockage
for blockage problems you might be able to do a few things.
Solimar pneumatics offers a vibrator/aerator that might help with flow problems.
line the the sloping sides with TPFE tape
line the hopper with a polyethylene sleeve. The hoppers we use for our dust collectors are HDPE. The walls are very smooth. I have yet to see anything get blocked in them. ■
Re: Reduction Of Dust Collector Blocked Hopper Mass
Hi Ed
Thanks for your comments.
The whole issue is over maximum structural load minimisagtions - regardless of the wall lining and wall aerators. There will come a time when the hopper gets full of dust.
The max. load in our case is +14T for dust alone. 4T for base / clean unit.
Normal operating wt would be slightly higher than 4T.
Any further comment would be appreciated.
Thanks

Reduction Of Dust Collector Blocked Hopper Mass
Presume you will fit hopper level detectors.
What kind of dust?
What kind of outfeed arrangements?
At the end of a shiploader boom you are going to have to store the dust, are you not?

Reduction of Dust Collector Blocked Hopper Mass
Hi All,
I am wondering if anyone has success or tips on ways to reduce the total special (blocked hopper) loads from hopper type dust collectors.
We have a dust collector with side gas flow in between the bags...ie side flow....with some partial hopper underflow.
I have seen some units with gas flow to the side walls of the hopper with a baffle plate > makes good for dust re entrainment but they seem to work
Gas inlets into the hopper with gas chamber up towards the bags.
Offset hopper with gas flow coming down one side into the hopper and then up to the bag nest.
I was thinking of hopper inserts to subsitute volume ie displacement type. But am wary of interruptions to the gas flow in the hopper area
I need to get the maximum blocked hopper weight down as much as possible...it is mounted on the end of a shiploader boom.
Any comments or suggestions welcomed
Thanks
James ■
