Hi

I am working with an organization dealing with fly ash coneying system as project manager looking after execution and commissioning.

But now I am interesting in designing part.

Can some one help me by sending the design procedure for pipe size, vesel size, coneying air volume/pressure calucations and also requirement of compressor.

I would be thankful to you

Thanks

Just send the enquiry to a pneumatic conveyor supplier near you!

Tell him much more than you told us.

Remind your employer that is often difficult to commission what has yet to be designed.

I appreciate the reply. It is my opinion that the forum should be interesting enough to share new issues, problems and then create new areas of research.

Hi

I thought the forum is also to help the people and to share the knowledge.

I could have posted this enquiry to any dealer and he might have given me the final calculations and not the detailed one and also he might not give me the trade secret ( i.e designing part.)

And also my employer has many design engineers to do the same but it is out of my interest that i wanted to learn the designing.

Thanks even if you dont wann share your knowledge.

Thanks again

Arun

If you are interested in understanding the basics of pneumatic conveying I recommend you read some basic textbook on this subject. A number of books have been discussed in previous threads. Most of your questions will be answered just by reading the literature and then if you have any specific questions you can ask on the forums and I am sure you will get the answers.

Arun,

In response to your request I have sent to you a copy of my article "Theory and Design of Dilute Phase Pneumatic Conveying Systems". This article was published in Powder Handling & Processing magazine last year.

If you know basic Excel and some fundamentals of pneumatic conveying, this article will enable you to run calculations yourself.

But if you need help or have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Dear Amrit,

I was doing a search on pneumatic conveying systems and wanting to know more.

We are a company involved in helping our clients in getting approval for our clients from the Malaysian Dept. Of Environment for their waste-water and air exhaust systems.

I just signed up as member yesterday.

Just down the road from you in Hauz Khas you will find the IIT. In the ITMMEC Centre they have a large laboratory devoted to pneumatic conveying. Research is undertaken in both dilute and dense phase conveying and 'air slides'. They have particular expertise in the conveying of fly ash, both fine and coarse grades. Make contact with Dr Vijay K Agarwal. Tell him that I sent you.

Arun,

I have used Amrit's article for pneumatic design and found it easy to follow and a great explaination in making a basic excel spreadsheet for design.
