hi;

We have recived a slew ring bearing from M/s Shougang mining china ( Rothe Erde , Xuzhou, China) The Bearing No.131.40.4000.402.04.03F3 was supplied with out a spider fitted to the assly. The brg.was instaled in the Stacker Reclaimer machine and was tried to slew but the Slew Deck could not be rotated. Further we tried to slew it with the help of max puller Cap. 3MT but could not achive it.

Any one with similar experience are requested to share and help us to solve the problem.

Kind regards.

Hi,

I would like to suggest you to change your manufactuer to Can-FMy Industries Ltd. Richmond, BC, Canada with email canfmybc@gmail.com or fax: 001-604-909-5187.

You can provide all three loads vertical, horizontal and rollover , then Can-FMy can make it to your drawings and requirement.

Thanks.

Frank y Fang.

Assuming it is three phase powered.

Has anyone checked the coupler from the electric motor to the slewing ring gearbox if so equipped-it may have sheared in half.

Assuming it was bronze bearing:

Were both the upper and lower halves replaced at the same time?, if not the uppere housing may be binding against the lower oneor vice versa

Was the lubricator reattached to pump oil to the bearing surface? were thier lubricator holes drilled in the bearing for oil delivery hoses?

If the clearances are not equal the slew ring will bind and not allow it to work; has any one used a feeler gauge to check distances between the bearing halves checking the entire circumference of the mounting after the bearing was replaced?

Also a possibility:

I think that you will find the shaft for the drive motor may have also sheared in half or the electric motor if so powered has lost a phase or is burned out/shorted out if and only if the trip settings on the circuit breakers are properly set.

Dear Mr Mukherjee,

From the bearing number, using the Rothe Erde type designation, it should be a roller bearing with an external gear. The diameter should be 4 meters.

You suggest that the bearing might have been damaged during transport or storage, because there was no spider frame to support the ring.

Or the ring was distorted during mounting.

Nevertheless, you experienced no deflections during fastening the bolts and therefore I assume that the bearing is ok.

Didn't you rotate the bearing a bit to fit the bolt holes ?

The reason for not turning must therefore be looked for somewhere else.

The first thing to check is of course whether the drive is delivering a full torque while switched on.(electric drive or hydraulic drive?)

If the drive is OK, then check where the whole construction is responding to switching the drive backwards and forward and try to discover how far the forces travel into the construction.

Then try to rotate the whole construction without the drive attached, using one (or more) big shovel(s) or a puller. (Be careful)

Knowing the layout of the installation might give more clues.
