Re: Using The Pipe For Pneumatic Conveying
Simple answer is NO. The pipe wear will be to high. ■

Dear Rajendra,
Do not forget the mechanical strength against dynamic forces on the pipeline ■

Hdpe For Conveying Cement
Dear Rajendra,
You can use HDPE pipe provided you can keep it from flexing and thus not remaining horizontal or vertical. You will need pipe supports every 10 feet as a minimum. I am assuming that you can accept some contamination of cement due to wear of the pipeline. Your main concern will be erosive wear of the bends if you are using long radius bends. This problem could be solved by using "pocket-tees". Also make sure that the pressure rating of the pipe is at least 10% higher than the maximum pressure of the conveying blower/compressor. Also, design the pipeline joints properly.
I hope that the above comments will help you in making a decision.

Dear Amrit Agarwal sir,
Thanks for immediate reply,
In HDPP pipe Permissible working stress- 5 N/Sq.MM as Per DIN 8074 & Also Diameter is Available up to 10mm to 1600mm. Thickness upto 2mm –40mm.
Our system specification
Capacity: -250 TPH,
250 Mtr. Long from Ship to Storage Silo (Including lift –50Mtr.)
90 Deg. Bend –6 Nos.
Kindly Check the Possibility for using HDPP pipe for this system.

Rajendra,
Please also consider heating of the conveying air. I think you will find that the properties of the pipe material will be adversely affected.

Re: Using The Pipe For Pneumatic Conveying
Air temp. Around 120 to 150 Deg at outlet at Blower. It may be harmful to Pipe a materials.
If you have any information please send.

Pneumatic Conveying Pipe
Suppliers of PE pipe say that it should not be used above 60 deg. C for certain applications. Temperature restrictions also apply to PP pipe. Talk to the pipe manufacturer about the matter.
