If you are referring to pressure vessel design, this is the wrong forum. ASTM has specifications for pressure vessel design in the United States. Canada has their own as other countries may also. Canada is CSA standards. Hope this helps.

Pulley Shell And End Discs Thickness

Posted on 24. Jan. 2006 - 04:12

Hi,

I try to find a formula to calculate the minimum shell and end disc thickness of some pulley.

I looked at the differents standards and it seems that it is not covered.

I don't have access to a FIA software and I am looking for rules of thumb or any other formula.

Thanks!!

This has been covered in many thesis works. Notably by Helmuth Lange in his PhD thesis back in the 1960's

I am in search of Hellmuth Lange's 1963 paper on shell stress, does anyone have a copy of this and is willing to share?
