PNEUMATIC CONVEYING WORKSHOP – Dr David Mills

An exclusive 2-day Technical Workshop on Pneumatic Conveying by world renowned expert Dr David Mills , Pneumatic Conveying Consultant , UK.

Date: 6 - 7 Feb, 2006

Venue: The Capitol, Raj Bhavan Road, Bangalore

Course: The conveying of bulk materials is an important activity in an industry. There is hardly an industry which does not, at some time handle materials that are in a small or finely divided form. With many materials being stored, handled and transported in bulk form, industries are becoming increasingly aware that investment in bulk handling equipment, together with associated labour, energy and maintenance costs, can represent a large portion of the total expenditure. Pneumatic conveying is now recognized as an efficient, reliable and highly productive method of transporting dry, granular and powdery products from one location to another. A pneumatic conveying system can be used in conjunction with storing, discharging, separating, cleaning, blending, homogenizing, weighing, controlling and regulating functions to provide a turnkey answer to any bulk handling requirement of small to large industrial plants. Compared with other conventional methods of handling, pneumatic conveying requires little floor space, eliminates contamination of environment or product, requires little or no maintenance due to fewer moving parts and can be routed unobtrusively to any part of the plant.

Format: This workshop gives an insight into some of the important aspects of pneumatic conveying starting with fundamentals and then applying the concepts for design and operation specific industry sectors.

Faculty: David Mills has gained over 30 years experience in Pneumatic Conveying, through consultancy, research and teaching. He undertook a PhD programme on Pneumatic Conveying in 1973 and has been working in this area ever since, first at the University of Greenwich in London, then as Professor of Bulk Solids Handling at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. Since 1997 he has been operating as an independent consultant. He is the author of the ‘Pneumatic Conveying Design Guide’ (2nd Edition) and co-author of the ‘Handbook of Pneumatic Conveying Engineering’ both of which were published last year. He has written over 160 articles for technical journals and conferences, and has presented short courses and undertaken consultancy work on a worldwide basis.
