Clutch Coupling

Dear Sir,

One of my clients is having conveyor having head and tail end drives of 200 kw each. When conveyor load is less he wants to run only one drive at head end.

Is there any coupling which can be provided between pulley and gear box to declutch the second drive if required?

Alternatively to above mentioned product a fill-controlled coupling could be used.

This is done not only on belt conveyors (here relatively often) but also AFC, fan drives etc.

Use of this is not limited to declutching but also to have active load sharing for example in long belt conveyors with tripper booster drives.

Dear Nordell

Dodge CST from Rockwell Automation as indicated by nordell seems to be feasible option

Regarding fill-controlled coupling as indicated by Obser may not solve the purpose ,in case we provide this coupling between motor and gear box then purpose is not solved .as gearbox will be rotating .I donot think this copling can be provided at 35 rpm shaft to decluch gearbox

Clutch Coupling

We have a gear style coupling that sounds like it will work for the application. It is not a clutched coupling, but is a disconnect style, our type G72 gear coupling. It is used for applications where the coupling is only needed at specific times. When the coupling is not used it can be "shifted" so that the gear mesh on the coupling is disconnected and it will not transmit power, however the driving shaft of the equipment is free to run. The coupling utilizes a shifting handle that we can supply or you can have someone locally manufacture a shifting mechanism to engage and disengage the coupling.

Please review the catalog to see if it will work in your application.

Thank you,

Mr. A. R. Singh

Thank you for your enquiry dated 23rd August, 2005 for 200KW clutch coupling.

You can use our scoop control coupling for declutching the motor from the conveyor. The Scoop tube shall be brought to 0% position for the coupling connected to the motor to be deloaded. The motor can be disconnected from electric supply but it will keep on rotating through the fluid coupling. Please send us your full address with phone, fax Nos and email ID.
