Re: Volumetric Screw Feeder
Dear Mr. Oex,
There could be following possibilities for further examination :
- Possibility of using tapered screw, if the hopper outlet length is long.
- Possibility of using two / three parallel screw feeders, side by side if there is apprehension for arching.
Suggest to refer to manufacturers of screw feeders for specific recommendation considering capacity mtph, screw diameter, bin height, bin outlet length, and dust size.

Re: Volumetric Screw Feeder
Mr. Mulani,
Thank you for your response.
The storage bin is about 14 feet diameter by 35 feet high. The coned bottom feeds to a single point, so there is no need for a tapered screw.
The material is free flowing and there is no concern for bridging or arching.
I realize the equipment mfg. wiill need to size the equipment.
I am looking for any comment from those with direct experience in this type installation and operation. ■
Volumetric Screw Feeder
Please comment on the viability of locating a volumetric screw feeder directly below a tall bin and having a direct feed into the screw feeder. The material to be metered is dust from a cement kiln, ambient. ■
