NEW NELSON "PUCK-STYLE" SILENCERS OFFERED FOR DIESEL ENGINES

Stoughton WI, August 2, 2004

When space is at a premium, diesel engine manufacturers, packagers and

end-users have an unequalled exhaust attenuation choice - the new line of

Nelson brand single and dual inlet "puck-style" engine silencers from

Universal Silencer.

The experienced acoustic experts at Universal Silencer designed the newest

Nelson brand industrial noise control solutions with the space, heat and

durability considerations of the user in mind.

These low-profile silencers not only fit in the smallest enclosures, but are also perfect for portable power, marine, or other applications where a 'tight fit' is a concern. Nelson puck silencers are available in a low skin temperature (LST) design for exceptionally small compartments and enclosures to keep radiant heat to a minimum. The LST configuration incorporates an extra layer of packed acoustic/thermal insulation that reduces heat and noise, eliminating the need for expensive external wraps. The Nelson aluminized steel designs outperform the comparably priced carbon steel competition by offering higher corrosion resistance, greater maximum operating temperatures, less weight and an overall longer silencer life.

Nelson puck silencers offer multiple attenuation grades (up to 42 dB

reduction) in standard flanged and flush mounted designs. Dual inlet

models can be customized with offset flanges, enabling an appropriate

flange-to-flange fit with nearly any major engine brand, including the most

popular Cummins, CAT and Detroit Diesel models. As with all Nelson brand

silencers, units can be crafted in stainless steel as well.

The puck-style silencers are the latest enhancement to Nelson's already

expansive line of engine exhaust silencers, including prominent spark

arresting models, efficient silencer/catalyst (emission reduction) units

and versatile low pressure drop products.

Nelson brand silencers offer the latest in exhaust noise control technology

and effectively engineered silencing solutions since 1939. Nelson's

Technical Center is the home of a complete acoustical laboratory, which

employs a sound analysis room, three semi-anechoic chambers and multiple

diesel engine test cells for acoustic, dynamic and material testing and

prototype development.
