Thompson Scale Releases Advanced Small Package Checkweighers

Checkweighers Provide Quick and Accurate Weights with Flexible Configuration and Easy Maintenance

(October 13, 2003) HOUSTON, TX – Thompson Scale Company, a leader in checkweighing systems, packaging machinery controls, and custom production scales, announced today the release of the TSC 350… and Sonic 350… Small Package Checkweighers. These extremely fast and accurate checkweighers provide a way for manufacturing plants to reduce giveaway and shortages in packaging and keep quality control at peak levels.

The TSC 350 is a drag chain style checkweigher that is designed for in-motion weighing of rigid, semi-rigid, and stable products weighing from 1 gram to 10 kilograms. This checkweighing system is capable of weighing up to 350 units per minute, with accuracies of up to +/- 0.1 gram.

The TSC 350 is a simple, easy to use, rugged, yet highly accurate small package production scale. The product container may be virtually any shape or size. Examples of containers are boxes, cans, bottles, or rigid shrink-wrapped packages. Products currently run on the TSC 350 include paints, adhesives, insecticides, tubs of butter, bagged and boxed sugars, and fresh fruits.

Unlike other in-motion scales, the TSC 350 does not require the use of photo-eyes to detect the presence of a package crossing the scale – even at extremely high production rates. The TSC 350 (along with the Sonic 350) are unique in this respect. This feature eliminates the costs and problems (such as downtime, unweighed product, or incomplete weigh data) that are associated with dirty or misaligned photo-eye sensors.

This versatile checkweighing system is constructed of all stainless steel components and is available in various configurations to meet specific requirements: food grade (compliant applications), washdown and corrosive applications, as well as hazardous environments up to Class I, Division 1.

The Sonic 350 is a belt conveyer checkweigher designed for in-motion weighing of semi-rigid or flexible products weighing from a few grams to 10 kilograms with accuracies of up to +/- 0.1 gram. Designed for flexible and hard-to-handle products, this checkweigher weighs products of virtually any shape or size (up to 18 inches in length) at production rates of up to 200 units per minute. Examples of products compatible with the Sonic 350 include raw meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, or flexible packages (such as bagged pasta, liquid-filled packages, or bags of sugar).

The Sonic 350 features quick and simple operation with easy changeover from product to product. Its conveyor belts are food-grade compliant while the stainless steel construction is tough enough to handle almost any product in any environment, yet is responsive in both accuracy and performance. Networked servo motors provide responsive performance with conveyor speeds of up to 250 feet per minute, set digitally through the scale’s controls. Unlike other systems on the market, the Sonic 350 utilizes a single static calibration to provide accurate and repeatable weights over the range of the scale.

Like the TSC 350, the Sonic 350 checkweigher does not require the use of photo-eyes to detect the presence of a package crossing the weigh station conveyors, regardless of the speed that is set. Both checkweighers offer a wide variety of reject options as well as optional conveyors, light displays, alarms, reporting packages, communication interfaces, and Eriez¨ brand metal detectors.

These highly advanced scales use controllers that hold 75 unique product setups in memory and display useful information on production as each unit crosses the scale. Each scale controller also offers Spanish menus in full sentences for better comprehension.

The TSC 350 and Sonic 350 checkweighers are available now. For more information, call 713/932-9071 or visit https://edir.bulk-online.com/profile...le-company.htm
