TAYLOR PRODUCTS, HARDY INSTRUMENTS COMBINE STRENGTHS TO MOVE PACKAGING INDUSTRY TO NEXT-GENERATION CAPABILITIES

- For the first time in material handling history, two leaders have melded talents to create a premium process controller for the packaging industry

PARSONS, KS and San Diego, CA - Taylor Products, a division of Magnum Systems, and Hardy Instruments, a leader in the process control industry, today announce that they are working together to provide expanded and enriched material handling capabilities for the packaging industry. As part of the relationship, Taylor plans to deliver a new series of packaging process systems that will incorporate Hardy’s innovative technology.

"When we decided to take filling control to the next level, we wanted to team up with an organization possessing strong process control experience and leading edge communications technology. Hardy Instruments was our choice, hands down," said Lew Ribich, president of Magnum Systems. "Together, we're fashioning the next generation of packaging systems.”

“The development of the product and relationship has been exciting. Taylor has a solid command of state-of-the-art filling technology and a wonderful laboratory where we’ve worked together to push limits. The result is faster and more accurate packaging increasing effectiveness and productivity of packaging lines," said Dave Ness, president of Hardy Instruments.

The new T-3000 Series controllers will incorporate over 50 years of Taylor Products’ container handling and packaging experience with Hardy Instruments’ 80 years of innovative design in the process control and condition monitoring arena and will include the following standard features:

• A Selectable 10/100 BaseT Ethernet Port with Embedded Web Server provides process control, instrument diagnostics, and system setup over a local Intranet connection (LAN), or the World Wide Web.

• System Email provides event-generated messages to a PC for possible filtering or to pagers or WAP enabled cell phones.

• The IR Port enables wireless connectivity to PDA devices for easy configuration and transfer of data.

• A Standard Master DeviceNet Interface allows the user to view and control multiple applications from one display, and add third party I/O. The I/O is mapped, saving wiring costs by distributing I/O to the control room or to anywhere it is needed in the process. (Optional Allen-Bradley Remote I/O, Profibus, and analog communications are also available.).

• Built-In Diagnostics and Automatic Pre-acts combine to ‘auto tune’ the process for maximum efficiency and product throughput. This feature also allows alarm indication via any communication method, including email.

• Built-in Hardy Instruments Features offer advanced process control technology:

- Hardy WAVERSAVER® eliminates the effects of vibration on and around the scale;

- Hardy C2® allows electronic calibration without test weights;

- Hardy SMM (Secure Memory Module) enables a manual transfer of configuration data to another instrument.
