Isolation gates

We require isolation gates at outlets of bottom ash hopper below boiler furnace. These are to be horizontal, sliding type operated by pneumatic/hydraulic methods. The hopper is ocassionally used to retain bottom ash while attending to ash handling equipment (scraper chain conveyor) below. Water is continuously supplied to the hopper to cool the ash. Can someone send me the names of manufacturers/suppliers of gates for duty as outlined above?

dear vishy,

the bulk discharge system OSZILLOMAT should be a solution to solve your tasks!

it´s used for dry ash extraction for example (references available)

the OSZILLOMAT is appropriat for temperatures up to 800 ° C.

take a look at www.geroldinger.com to get more information.

Dear Vishy,

Anglonesian can supply you with a design suitable for local manufacture. Our equipment does not slide under the burden so there is no large shear force developed during closure. If you are proposing to use only one gate then there is a danger to the crew below, eg. If the largest lumps block complete closure of the outlet this will allow smaller, but still dangerous, lumps to drop out of the opening. You should be able to close down from two opposite edges of the opening; randomly, to nip any potential doorstop at source. Furthermore, if you use a sliding gate then you have to consider that you must both lift and rotate those larger lumps which protrude from the opening. My design only involves lifting which it manages very easily.

If you let me have the opening dimensions, lump size spectrum and the available height I can prepare a scheme for you.

Underminer units have very low wear characteristics, low power consumption, instantaneous response and in your high temperature application we would propose compressed air actuation.

Thanks scorpio for yr response. After seeing ur website I find that the products/solutions offered are for dry bulk materials. Pl. let me know if u hv products to handle wet bulk materials, like wet bottom ash in this case.

Iam unable to send u a sketch but a brief description of the arrangement is as follows:

A steel,refractory-lined hopper is located below a boiler. The hopper has several outlets(size:1m x 1m approx.) to let the bottom ash to fall thru into the ash removal eqpt. below the hopper. Each outlet is provided with a gate for closing the opening when it is desired to retain ash in the hopper. The hopper is continously fed with water to cool the ash/refractory. The gates are opened to empty the ash from the hopper. Till then, the gates shall ensure minimum leakage of ash+water so as not to pose a hazard to the maintenance personnel on the floor.

Thanks for yr response to my post.

After reading yr reply I understand that u are proposing a non-sliding type of isolation gate . We do hv operating experience with such types specifically, swing type consisting of two leaves that swing away from each other during opening and towards each other when closing. Ideally, the leaves are to touch or overlap in closed position. Practically we find that the closure is not complete , leaving a large enough gap thru which a lot of water and ash flow out. This poses a hazard to the maintenance personnel working below .

Hence we prefer sliding type gate. In case u can offer such gates pl. forward details and ur experience list .

Vishy.

Dear goz,

I apologise for the long delay in replying to u. Thanks for yr reply.

After going thru the website suggested by u ,I find that " Oszillomat" would more likely fit a storage silo application than the one here. Further , the present application involves wet material . In case u hv further information to suit the application as I hv stated ,pl. forward me.

Regards,

Vishy.
